Dear Family and Friends, On October 9th of this year I will be running the Chicago Marathon yes its a crazy challenge but when you find a purpose or special reason that will pull you through the 26.2 miles it makes a different day all together. My reason is Dare2Tri a non for profit organization that supports athletes with a variety of disabilities such as -vision impairment-amputee-stroke victim cerebral palsy-and so much more. This requires such specialized training and equipment along with race entry fees which all come at a cost and for many of the athletes this isn't easy to obtain. I have had the honor to be a guide for one of Dare2Tri's vision impaired athletes over the last 2yrs( James Gilliard) and because of that opportunity I have witnessed such great accomplishments from so many of their athletes, They have such great pride and athletic ability it has truly beyond inspiring! For this has changed my outlook on the sport of triathlons and running and the capabilities of the human body. I'm hopeful to reach my goal for Dare2Tri this will make an impact for so many of there athletes who would otherwise not have an opportunity! BANK OF AMERICA CHICAGO MARATHON - RACE2RAISE TEAM
Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club is proud to be a part of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for its Charity Marathon Team, “Race2Raise.” The mission of Dare2tri is to positively impact the lives of athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments by developing their skills in paratriathlon.
In its first year as a Charity Marathon Team, Dare2tri hopes that Race2Raise Team members 'Inspire Many' on their journey to complete 26.2 miles! All funds raised by Race2Raise will directly benefit Dare2tri athletes and programs with hopes of growing both the sport of paratriathlon and the amount of paratriathletes in the Chicago-area and beyond.
