This year I am racing the Chicago Triathlon-Olympic distance on August 26, 2018 for Dare2Tri Paratriathlon Club.

Dare2tri is an Illinois-based 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization with the mission to positively impact the lives of athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments by developing their skills in paratriathlon. Dare2tri empowers individuals with disabilities and gives them the opportunity to be physically active, engaged with their community, and helps them set and reach goals. Dare2tri changes lives by boosting individuals’ self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth.

Since 2011, Dare2tri has worked with athletes of all ability levels from beginner to elite by serving youth, adults, and injured service members who have a physical disability such as amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and those with visual impairments and blindness.

I have seen Dare2Tri athletes at several triathlons I have completed over the years. The dedication and commitment they show is unbelievable. Anytime I think I am doing something tough, I am awed by their accomplishments. Furthermore, Brendan has a friend and classmate, Gabrielle, who is a Dare2Tri athlete. So there is a personal connection for our family. Gabrielle can be seen in the attached video. Her attitude will inspire you!

I know that there are countless causes to which you can donate, all of them worthy. I only ask that you consider making a donation to my race as I try to raise money for this wonderful organization. My goal is to raise $1500, which will cover operating costs for three recreational athletes for one season.
