Description

The Dare2tri Learn2Tri Camp is a beginner-level training camp for individuals with physical disabilities or visual impairments. It is geared toward those who have never completed a triathlon or athletes who have completed up to two triathlons.

Below are the volunteer roles for the entirety of the weekend camp. These roles are an intergral part of Learn2Tri Camp being sucessful and provide volunteers with the opportuntiy to work closely with Dare2tri staff and athletes. To volunteer for this camp, you will need to register for specific sessions throughout the camp. Spots for these sessions are limited. For One on One volunteer roles, it is preferred to commit to all 3 days. This is beneficial to the athlete and priovides a safer environment.

In order to keep all participants, volunteers, staff and coaches safe, Dare2tri is requiring all overnight participants to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before attending this camp. To read Dare2tri's COVID-19 protocols, please click this link.

 

Friday, August 5, 2022:

Unload/Setup: 6:30 AM - 8:30 AM (Help remove athlete equipment, tables, chairs, bins, tents etc.. from trailers requires some heavy lifting)

Vol Check In: 7:30 AM - 11:00 AM (Check in volunteers at HQ upon arrival, maintain volunteer snack table, beverages)

One on One: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Plan to swim/bike/run with an athlete for the entirety of camp-Bring your own equipment- athletes may or may not be visually impaired)

Dog Watcher 8:45 AM -12:45 PM (Spots will open on an as needed basis)

Swim Volunteers: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM (act as an in water guide for an athlete if needed or as an extra set of eyes in the water for safety)

Swim Volunteers: 10:45 AM - 12:45 PM

Volunteer Check In/Merchandise Tent: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Check in volunteers upon arrival, help manage merchandise booth)

Race Course Production: 12:15 PM - 2:15 PM (Help move tables, chairs, bins, tents etc... setup scrim/fencing around race course, place signage- requires some heavy lifting)

Dog Watcher 1:45 PM - 5:30 PM (Spots will open on an as needed basis)

Photographer: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM (Photograph partcipants, coaches, volunteers, must have your own equipment and take direction from Marketing Manager)

Saturday, August 6, 2022:

Unload/Set up: 6:45 AM - 8:45 AM (Help remove athlete equipment, tables, chairs, bins, tents etc.. from trailers requires some heavy lifting)

Vol Check-In/Merch: 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Check in volunteers upon arrival, help manage merchandise booth)

One on One: 7:15 AM - 4:00 PM (Plan to swim/bike/run with an athlete for the entirety of camp-Bring your own equipment- athletes may or may not be visually impaired)

Dog Watcher 7:15 AM -11:15 AM (Spots will open on an as needed basis)

Open Water Swim: 7:15 AM - 9:30 AM  (act as an in water guide for an athlete if needed or as an extra set of eyes in the water for safety)

Water Entry/Exit Team: 7:15 AM - 9:30 AM (assist athletes into and out of the water full carries for those in wheel chairs, minor assistance for amputees, full assistance for those that ambulate- plan to be in the water)

Water Safety (Must have own kayak/paddleboard): 7:15 AM - 9:30 AM (an extra set of eyes and support vessel in the water for safety)

Bike (we have limited bikes, it's required to bring your own): 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM (act as a bike guide for an athlete if needed or as an extra set of eyes on the bike course for safety)

Bike (we have limited bikes, it's required to bring your own): 2:45 PM - 4:15 PM

Production: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM (lunch setup/cleanup, scrim setup, tents, tables etc...some lifting will be required)

Dog Watcher 1:00 PM - 4:15 PM (Spots will open on an as needed basis)

Merchandise: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM (Help sell merchandise at merch booth, requies using a tablet, correct distribution of sizes, and some money handling)

Photographer: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Photograph partcipants, coaches, volunteers, must have your own equipment and take direction from Marketing Manager)

Sunday, August 7, 2022:

Unload/Set up: 5:00 AM - 7:00 AM (Help remove athlete equipment, tables, chairs, bins, tents etc.. from trailers requires some heavy lifting)

One on One Athlete Guide: 5:30 AM - 10:00 AM (Plan to swim/bike/run with an athlete for the entirety of race-Bring your own equipment- athletes may or may not be visually impaired)

Race Crew: 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM (Help move tables, chairs, tents, place signage- etc... to aid stations around race course, requires some heavy lifting)

Dog Watcher 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM (Spots will open on an as needed basis)

Bike Marshal (we have limited bikes, it's required to bring your own):  6:00 AM - 10:00 AM (act as on course bike bike patrol as an extra set of eyes on course for safety-sweeper, lead bike)

Water Safety (Must have own kayak/paddleboard): 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM (an extra set of eyes in the water for safety during the swim portion of race)

Water Exit Team: 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM (assist athletes into and out of the water full carries for those in wheel chairs, minor assistance for amputees, full assistance for those that ambulate- plan to be in the water)

Open Water Swim: 6:00 AM - 8:00 AM (act as an extra set of eyes in the water for safety with the potential to be a swim buddy for an athlete)

Merchandise: 7:00 AM - 10:30 AM (Help sell merchandise at merch booth, requies using a tablet, correct distribution of sizes, and some money handling)
